Minimalistic, functional and clean Finnish design has enjoyed an enviable international reputation for decades.
In Helsinki you will find an entire design-oriented neighbourhood, the Design District. The area is home to a wide range of designer shops, interior decorating studios, antique dealers, clothing and jewellery boutiques, artist workshops, galleries, museums, restaurants and lots more.
Banks and money changing
All banks are open from Monday to Friday 09.00 - 16.30 (office hours may vary regionally), closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
In Helsinki foreign currency and travellers' cheques can be exchanged in several currency exchange offices in the city centre.

Currency
The national currency in Finland is the euro (€). Euro notes come in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500. One euro is divided into 100 cents or centimes. Coins of 1, 2 and 5 centimes are copper-coloured; coins of 10, 20 and 50 centimes are gold-coloured; 1 and 2 euro coins are gold-and-silver coloured.
Credit cards
American Express, Diner's Club, Eurocard, Access, Master Card and Visa are accepted in hotels, restaurants, larger shops, and department stores. Visa Electron is also accepted in many shops and department stores.
