CTN Study General statements

Eligibility

Study proposals must follow these criteria:

  • Active ESA members only are invited to submit their proposal by filling in and sending back the CTN Study Proposal form complete to research@euroanaesthesia.org.
  • CTN Study Proposal form must be sent no later than 20th January 2012, 23:59 CET (Central European Time).
  • The Study proposal can be submitted in the fields of Anaesthesia, Pain, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine. 
  • Late and incomplete CTN Study Proposal forms will not be accepted.
  • Only CTN Study Proposal forms and enclosures submitted in English will be considered eligible.

Announcement of selected Study proposals

The selected Study proposals will be announced via e-mail and published on ESA website approximately 2 months after the deadline, in February/March 2012.

Process

Up to three clinical study projects will be selected by the ESA Research Committee to start in 2012. The Principal Investigaor (PI) of the selected studies will be invited to discuss their projects with the Research Committee during a Research Committee meeting in February 2012. The CTN Study proposals selected by the RC will be published on the ESA website and centres throughout Europe will be invited to participate.


Benefits

The ESA will offer the following benefits for the period of the study:
a) Administrative support (including Ethics Committee approval coordination, Data management, Pre-cleaning of the study, etc.);
b) Access to the list of ESA CTN centres;
c) The facilities of the ESA Secretariat for meetings of the PI with its Study Steering Committee;
d) Technical facilities of the ESA online data collection for data collection and documentation;
f) Travels of the PI and Study Steering Committee members to Brussels for: 
    1. building of the Steering Committee and discussing of the study; 
    2. discussing of preliminary results; 
    3. presenting of final results and preparation of a manuscript;
g) Financial support of up to € 30,000 for statistics and publication costs.
