In-Training Assessment
Applications for the 2011 In-Training Assessment are now closed |
The In-Training Assessment (ITA) is a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) test which uses the same questions as the Part I European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDA).
The test comprises two MCQ papers, of sixty questions each. Paper A is confined to the basic sciences when Paper B includes clinical anaesthesia, internal medicine, and intensive care.
The ITA is held on the same date as the Part I Diploma Examination and can be taken in the same languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish, Hungarian, Portuguese, Turkish, Romanian or Slovene.
Trainees may sit the ITA at any stage in their training, either in selected training departments accredited by the ESA Examinations Committee or in the European Diploma Part I Examination Centres. Registered Specialists, wishing to assess their knowledge, may also sit the ITA.
Marking and Feedback
The ITA provides trainees and their Directors of Training with a Candidate Report Form showing a detailed breakdown of the candidate's performance as well as a symbolic pass/fail result for each question booklet that indicates the pass/fail threshold for the EDA Part I of the same year. Besides, individuals who sit the ITA receive comparison with their peers both nationally and throughout Europe. Registered Specialists will receive their Report Form under separate cover. The average marks shown on the Report Form will be for trainees with comparable duration of training. Trainees are dispatched into groups by length of experience in anaesthesia as follows: 0-2 years / 2-4 years / over 4 years.
Directors of Training are invited to read these guidelines to have more details.
ITA Candidates registering for the Berne centre should apply from the SSAR-SGAR website.
